The Genesis of our Ministry
Historical Background
Dr. Flo has been a minister since 1961 and Rev. Hal has been a minister since 1971. We met
at Unity village and were married in 1969. We pioneered a Unity study group, later to
become a Unity Ministry in Warrensburg, MO from 1969-71. We were Co-Campus
Ministers at the Wesley Foundation at Central Missouri State University from 1971-72. We
served Unity Ministries in Akron, OH and Delray Beach, FL from 1972-73. We were
Co-Ministers at Unity Christ Church, Minneapolis from 1973 -75. Moved to Phoenix in
1975. Flo served at Unity of phoenix as Adjunct Minister from 1980-2004. In 1984 we formed
Center of the Living Light as a satellite ministry of Unity of Phoenix until 2005 when we
became incorporated as an Alternative Unity Ministry and moved into our current quarters
in March, 2006.

The Major Focus of our Ministry
The major focus of Center of the Living Light is to provide a sound basis for people to enjoy
the rewards and joys of positive living, founded on the spiritual teachings of Jesus, the
Christ. Our emphasis is on interpreting biblical teachings metaphysically, searching for the
deeper meanings of the Old and New Testaments.

Specific Activities We Offer
We offer a regular series of rotating classes on spiritually based aids to positive living, and
credit classes for those seeking accreditation as Licensed Unity Teachers. We offer periodic
workshops in the same areas. We offer mentoring to those students who have an interest in
pursuing opportunities in spiritual education. We have an active prayer ministry and provide
an "old Fashioned Silent Unity Prayer Service" pamphlet and blessing letter every other
month, both by E-mail and snail-mail. We can provide counseling services, by
appointment,during regular office hours or at other times if necessary. Counseling is based
on proven and professional spiritual and mental-health methodologies.
